Nameplate versus application
Ask for load center, attachment and the crossing truck instead of comparing bare nameplate numbers. Rated capacity in lb is incomplete without that basis.

Specification check
Resolve specification and comparison questions before inquiry. This Duty Class Guide helps buyers compare hydraulic dock leveler suppliers on duty, power and interface questions without claiming a compliance outcome. Choices stay open until the building and traffic mix are written.
Write lifts per hour, trailer mix and whether the deck stays parked or works continuously. Duty cycle is a buyer input, not a ranking of plants.
State voltage, phase and frequency, or shop air pressure if a hydraulic alternative is allowed. Three-phase supply at the dock is not assumed.
Pit depth, dock height, platform length and lip length must use the same units on every quote. A substitute model is not accepted until those axes match.
Ask the matched factory for the capacity statement, pit drawing and hydraulic data. This desk lists the files; it does not issue them.
| Axis | Buyer writes | Factory restates | Stays unconfirmed here |
|---|---|---|---|
| Rated capacity | lb and load center | Nameplate basis for the quoted family | Application load of the crossing truck |
| Geometry | Pit depth, dock height, lip length | Working range in the same units | Whether a substitute deck fits the pit |
| Power | Voltage, phase, frequency or shop air | Power-unit data for that serial family | Which option is “better” |
| Scope | Machine-only versus named extras | What the line includes | Installed cost until site work is priced |

01Load-center check
Separate freight, pit work, anchors, electrical and commissioning from the machine line. A lower unit price can hide omitted site work.
02Scope split
Electric, hydraulic and air-assisted packages stay buyer options. Choose from duty and available power, not from a universal ranking.
03Power still undecided
Factory restates rated capacity and load center for the quoted serial family.
Pit or dock height drawing confirms geometry before an alternative is accepted.
Voltage, phase, frequency or air pressure sit on the same line as the deck.
Share product, quantity, destination and which duty, power or interface items are still undecided.
